During a karaoke song competition, a winning singer might receive cash and prizes or even fame and fortune if they’re really good! No matter what the reason for participating in a karaoke song competition, here are some great tips.

How To Choose Your Karaoke Song

When choosing the song for a karaoke contests, choose a couple of tunes (your main song plus a backup) that you know really well.

Choose songs that are fitting with your voice and your appearance. Also, avoid those that seem to be overused at karaoke song competitions.

The song should be a familiar one, but if it’s overly used, the listeners may not actually hear the uniqueness of your voice.

Etiquette For Karaoke Singing Competition

Think back to your first karaoke song competition. You were probably very nervous.

Remember to show compassion toward new singers, and even offer advice when given the opportunity. Be patient, and don’t expect them to know all the rules.

Also, if you are planning to perform a favorite song, be sure to have a back-up just in case another singer chooses your favorite. And, don’t get upset if they do.

The Karaoke Singing Competition Host

Respect your karaoke host. The host is who determines how the competition will operate, and keeps everything running smoothly. Their job is stressful, so always treat your host with respect.

Demonstrating karaoke etiquette will help you to shine in the eyes of your fans and other singers.

Dress Matters In Singing Contests

Your attire matters when singing in a karaoke song competition. Dress to fit the type of song you will sing. If singing a Sinatra song, wear a tuxedo. If singing a country/western song, wear a cowboy hat, jeans and boots.

Use Emotion And Make Eye Contact

Put some feeling into your song.

Karaoke song competitions are meant to be fun and entertaining. Try to avoid being “stiff” while singing, but make facial expressions to show your emotions. Move around on the stage as well.

You’re not a professional, so it’s OKAY to look at the words on the karaoke screen while in a competition. That’s what karoake is all about anyway, right?

It’s simply reading the words on a screen while singing along. Karaoke song competitions are no different, except you will not read the words continually.

Glance at the screen occasionally to be sure you’re getting the song right, but try not to stare at the screen during the entire song.

Use this advice to make your karaoke song competition experience one to remember. And, maybe you'll win while you're at it!!
