How
to Find a Good Coach for Junior Singing Auditions
or Talent Contests
Singing Contests, Karaoke
and Other Competitions
When you try out for junior
singing auditions, your voice decides whether or
not you get in, so to that end, your voice is all
you want or need to concentrate on right now, this
is where a singing instructor is of the utmost
importance. To start your
training be aware there is a right way and a wrong
way to go about this, first off, to find the right
music teacher. This one step could make or break
your singing goals.
When you are looking for the
best instructor, these can be found in local
newspapers, the phone book or even better still ask
around, ask others who they would recommend, ask
family, friends, coworkers, anyone who has used a
singing teacher. A vocal
coach should be, first and foremost, a professional
as well as knowledgeable in how to teach voice and
being able to give tips on how to improve at every
stage of the teaching process.
Ask questions of your
probable new instructor like, can they teach you
all the breathing techniques needed to
achieve
your singing goals
and do they have the expertise to help you reach
the high or low notes needed in your upcoming vocal
endeavors. Can they teach you about tools like
falsetto and head voice, etc. Let your teacher know
you are earnest about wanting to learn to
sing.
Also, when looking for a
singing coach look for one who will spend the time
needed in order to teach you well. Sad to say, but
many people are in it for the money only, and that
is not what a singing teacher should be in it for,
a true instructor will guide you step-by-step all
the way and enjoy what they do, ask their own
students how they feel about the instructor. Why
did they pick them and how do they rate
them.
As the teacher progresses in
your music studies you should feel free to ask any
and all questions of that teacher such as, if you
do get in to the junior choirs etc. is it possible
to land work in this field, is it possible to be
spotted by a talent agent or even ink a record deal
from your vocals for the joy and love of singing,
everything else will follow.
If you really plan to get
serious about these junior singing auditions you
might even consider taking singing
lessons from a
professional instructor to improve your chances of
ranking higher. Lessons like this one helps improve
voice quality and range. This is if you are dead
set on trying to really impress the auditions
board.
When it comes right down to
it though , the best reason to enter a junior
singing audition is for the fun and joy of singing,
professional or not. Use your voice to make you
happy, not just to make you money.
